Note: The March event was a big success with an excellent turnout.  

April 18 - Good Design is Good Business. Architect John Tagle AIA, will discuss the role of good design in a vibrant and thriving city's success.
 
May 16 - Civic Art as the Wise Sage of Big Beaver Rd. Mark Miller, AICP/PCP and City of Troy Planning Director will update projects including the Pavilions of Troy. He will tie together urbanism, art and the Big Beaver corridor through civic art gateways, sleek & elegant street furniture, public squares and more.
 
We also plan to tape these events for replay on local cable TV.

Kmart  "Doors" Project - Thurs Apr 17th

Location:   Troy School District Services Building
                 4420 Livernois in Troy (N of Wattles, E of Livernois)

We would like as many artists as possible to attend.     

What is the "Doors" Project??
The Kmart Headquarters building will be torn down in June to  make way for the new Pavilions of Troy. As a way to commemorate this historic building, the interior steel doors will be saved so that they can be turned into works of art.  The doors can be bent, re-shaped, painted or cut into pieces and made into jewelry or fabricated into sculptures.   The final works will be auctioned at a special fund raising event (artist will receive a portion of the proceeds).

Artists from across the metro area will be participating including members of the BBAC and the Detroit Artists Market.  This should prove to be a very exciting event!

The Chelsea Center for the Arts had a similar "Doors" project a few years ago Chelsea Doors Project .
The Arts In Troy - Panel Discussion
Wednesday - May 28th 7pm

I/ACT Lectures Being Televised
 
The March, 2008  Troy Arts "Brown Bag" lunch event is being televised on WTRY during the month of April.

Topics: Public Art in Troy and Pathways Through Troy
Schedule: 4 pm on Tuesday and 9am on Wednesday
Channel:  Channel 10 for Wow users and Channel 53 on Comcast.

We also hope to have this broadcast on the Community Media Network channel in the coming month.
